Martino’s to hold Pizza and Fire Prevention Fundraiser Oct. 12

It’s back! Taking place once a year, the Martino’s Pizza and Fire Prevention Fundraiser will take place Saturday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. With firefighters in the kitchen, all proceeds from the fundraiser at 965 Pine Street will go to local fire department needs in Stanley and Boyd. The Stanley fire truck and Boyd ambulance will be on site as in years past as John and Megan Junker take over hosting the tradition started by Martino’s founder Ron Haas.
“We can’t imagine not continuing what Ron started for our area fire departments,” Martino’s co-owner Megan Junker said. “Our family along with the community and our staff are so excited.” Junker said former staff are also asking if they can volunteer to help make sure the day goes smooth.
Boyd-Edson-Delmar and Stanley Fire Chief Ron Patten shared how the fundraiser helps local fire department needs.
“Over the years the money that Martino’s has donated to each department has bought a lot of equipment that we otherwise may not have been able to buy,” Patten shared. “We use it for equipment for the department to help save lives. It’s very, very helpful.”
Also made possible with money from the fundraiser are other projects, which are started with fundraiser money and then added to by local municipalities.
“We start projects with that money and then the fire district or City of Stanley is willing to put in additional money,” Patten said.
