Interested in owning a historic bridge? Willing to move it to a suitable location, keep it in its present condition for 10 years, and assume all future financial and legal responsibility for it, after receiving help with removal costs?
If that’s you, we’ve got news. A 1939 Truss bridge measuring 142 feet long by 26 feet long on County Highway G in Colburn is due to be replaced soon, and being offered free of charge to someone able to do all of the above. Assistance of $120,000 (equal to demolition costs) is available to help with removal.
Potential bridge owners for the specimen currently just south of 192nd Avenue in Colburn should submit their requests for information on proposals by June 30, 2024 to:
Erin Kelly
Mead & Hunt Inc.,
2440 Deming Way
Middleton, WI 53562
erin.kelly@meadhunt.com
(608) 443-0325
Potential bridge recipients include private citizens and nonprofit organizations, as well as town, city, and county governments. Before acquiring the bridge, recipients must prepare and submit a proposal for WisDOT and State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) review. Proposals should follow guidelines in the information packet, with deadline of June 30. Requests received after this date cannot be guaranteed consideration.
