LaMarche gives Boyd Streets and Utilities report Monday

The August sewer report is in at Boyd, and rain has made an impact—or rather, a lack of it has.
Street and Utilities Head Bob LaMarche filled in meeting attendees with the monthly update.
“We’re working on nitrates,” he said as it was shared they spike over the weekend, the high numbers attributed to lack of rain, meaning that nothing was diluted. LaMarche said curb painting had taken place on Murray and Center Street, while down at the plant the generators had been serviced. A sewer repair had been done on Randall by the school, as well as one near the Legion building. Fall sewer jetting was soon to begin, with LaMarche anticipating complaints.
“Sometimes it tends to suck people’s toilets dry,” LaMarche said.
As for plant maintenance, sensors at the plant were working on a time basis rather than automatic, with repairs estimated at $17,000 plus electrical, while in utilities news the lawnmower stands in need of being replaced, due to age and wear.
In other news from village board, Village Trustee Michael Eslinger was tasked with looking more into the details of grants related to Patten Street, while Village Clerk Sandi Isaacs had contacted Senn Blacktop regarding needed patches on Ingersoll, Reynolds, and Clark in town, but not heard back. Isaacs also brought up the possibility of changing ordinance to allow another Class A license, after being approached by Jeff Zais of Boyd catering. The current ordinance allows for just one license, which is held by the Boyd Cenex.
As for the update from police, rules, and ordinance, Trustee Casey Dorn reported that someone was said to be interested in the Boyd officer position. Progress was being made on the Chester Flees residence, while recent complaints had been heard from out on Boundary Road past the Treatment Plant.
The issue, which involves Boyd and Delmar as being on the border, has not been resolved.
In park news, a new fence might be in the works, the example of Stanley’s Fandry Park sparking ideas about opening said fence to business advertisers.
“In time, that fence would pay for itself,” Trustee Josh Walters said.
Boyd village meetings are held on the second Monday of the month ay 7 p.m. in the village hall.
