High school girls XC team places second at Altoona Saturday

The Orioles varsity and middle school cross country teams headed to Tower Ridge at Altoona Saturday, Oct. 5, the high school girls finishing second for varsity as the middle school boys took first for middle school.
Orioles Head Cross Country Coach Nick Mahr shared thoughts after the results.
“It was another small meet but we ran well again,” Mahr said. “Our girls placed second as a team and three of our girls placed in the top 15.”
Among the top 15 finishes for high school girls was Mariah Wehling in sixth with a time of 23:13, Haylee Shakal in 11th with a time of 23:50, and Ava Kempf in 15th with a time of 24:09.
Additionally, Lucy Wundrow placed 19th with a time of 24:54, Mayah Mahr placed 20th with a time of 24:59, Addison Mahr placed 21st with a time of 25:01, and Taylor Wilbur placed 29th with time of 30:18.
As for high school boys, Elihu Krenzelok placed 16th with a time of 19:57.
Four middle school boys finished in the top 10. John Smit finished first with a time of 11:32, Thomas Smit finished sixth with a time of 13:26, Zander Kelly finished eighth with time of 13:30, and Michael Toepfer finished ninth with a time of 13:31.
The Stanley-Boyd Middle School boys team placed first overall with 36 team points.
As for middle school girls, top 10 finishes included Annelysse Kramschuster with a time of 14:46.
The Orioles next compete Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Conference meet at Levis-Trow Mounds Recreational Area in Neillsville. Competition starts at 10:00 a.m.
