Grounded wires the cause, restaurant open for business
Fans of Mexican cuisine can rest easy in the knowledge that Cantina Margaritas is open for business.
The happy news follows a Friday fire call and brief scare after outside wires contacted with tin on the outside of the building, leading to a response from Stanley fire. Luckily, there was no fire to fight.
“The wind bent some of the tin and it was touching the pole,” owner Martin Valencia said Saturday of the effect that high winds had had.
“That was all.”
With an otherwise unscathed building, Excel Energy showed up on site to do an initial check Friday and was scheduled to come back Monday to finish repairs. In the meantime, the restaurant was and is open, with daily specials Monday through Saturday for hungry guests.
We received the call at 3:23 p.m. Friday,” Chief Hagenson said. "We had engine 1 and ladder 51 respond with five personnel to start I called Boyd and Thorp Fire due to the location

of the building. We were told on the page that there was smoke and flames showing from the attic.”
Upon arrival, things were better than had been feared, in terms of potential fire damage and spread.
"The cause of the fire was an old set of power lines on the north side of the building. There was minimal damage due to any fire. No other buildings or businesses were effected from the call.”
In the meantime, Cantina Margarita’s is open.
