New ‘no parking’ signs off Rose Street rail crossing

McQuillan acts as president pro tempore in Geist’s absence

Meeting Monday July 8 at the Village Hall, the Boyd Village Board--or three of five—tackled important village business. With village president Bob Geist on an excused absence and trustee Michael Eslinger also away, the meeting was run by Trustee Sarah McQuillan as president pro tempore, the latter phrase meaning ‘for the time being.’
“Bob’s not going to be here,” Village Clerk Sandi Isaacs told trustee Sarah McQuillan when she showed up. “You’re going to have to run the meeting.”
Starting with the pledge followed by approval of the agenda, the Monday July 8 village board meeting tackled pressing business. Among the July items covered were approving a picnic license for the Team Aubree Softball Tournament August 9 through August 11, a Street Use permit for the Boyd Area Chamber on August 9, and another street use permit for a birthday party at the Corner Bar on July 21.
Each approved in turn, it was soon time for Patten Street, with televising the next step to take in the long drawn saga of road repair. No major developments are to be expected in terms of Patten Street road construction in the near future, pending the televising.
For the present, meanwhile, we’ve got some Rose Street news. New yellow paint and ‘no parking’ signs are now installed or due to be on either side for the tracks.
Coming to Boyd at request of CN Railway, the new signage controlling traffic near the intersection of asphalt and iron rails extends prohibition on either side of the tracks where yellow curb paint exists, in the interest of public safety.
