In a sign of changing times, the Stanley Police Department could soon be in need of a translation agreement for Spanish, due to greater interaction with Spanish speakers.
“There has been an increase in contact with Spanish-speaking individuals,” Stanley Police Chief Lance Weiland told the council in his bi-monthly update. “A need for a translation agreement may be in the future. Currently we have had the luxury of a local resident assisting.”
Also contained in Weiland’s update, the new squad has been built and is in route to the dealership with delivery expected next week, while fans have been ordered to deal with excessive heat in the police garage and to assist with building air flow.
“Ordered fans for police garage to help with excessive heat and to assist with air flow,” Chief Weiland wrote.
Closing out the police update, Officer Cody Vircks has resigned from the Stanley Police Department.
“Officer Cody Vircks resigned,” Chief Weiland shared. “A search for a new officer is started. Review will be after two weeks to determine if more time is needed.
