State Representative Karen Hurd spoke to the Stanley City Council on July 1st to share her move to the Town of Withee for the opportunity to represent the constituents of the 69th District Assembly. Previously residing in Fall Creek where she represented the 68th District, Hurd left for the chance to represent the 69th District after Governor Tony Evers signed new maps into law in February that moved Stanley, Boyd and Delmar to the 69th District.
Talking on the issues surrounding the State of Wisconsin, Hurd expressed that she is passionate for the people of Wisconsin and will work hard for her constituents.
“I am a strong advocate for the rural population because down there it’s like we are the ugly stepsisters. Like who cares about the rural? It’s like, you better care! Where do you think all the dairy products are coming from? Where do you think all your lumber is coming from?” said Hurd.
Concerning the move that resulted in many changes including leaving left her home of twenty-eight years, resigning as Village of Fall Creek trustee, and leaving her position as a substitute teacher, Hurd stated, “I will do anything for the people of Wisconsin. I love these people.”
