The Stanley Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Coffee and Commerce event was held at Aspirus Stanley Hospital on August 1. Local business owners and community members were treated to coffee and a hospital tour, led by Nicole Dekan, Nursing Supervisor, and Alissa Broughton, Supervisor of Surgical Service. Aspirus Stanley Hospital offers access to experienced primary care and specialty care services in addition to 24-hour emergency care and inpatient and outpatient hospital services while serving residents of Chippewa, Clark, and Taylor Counties. With their commitment to patient-centered care, the Aspirus Stanley Hospital is a vital resource to local families and individuals and also offers pharmaceutical services from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
As the group walked through the facility, Dekan explained that Aspirus Stanley has a Level IV trauma certification meaning that the facility primarily focuses on stabilizing patients and providing advanced trauma life support before transferring them to a more specialized facility. “A lot goes into being certified as a level four so very, very proud of that certification.” Dekan, who has worked at the Stanley Hospital for her entire career added, “Everybody here is very proud of what we do.”
Dr. Michael Severson, an emergency medical specialist, who commutes from Minnesota to provide care in Stanley, welcomed the tour attendees as they toured the efficiently managed emergency department. “This is an amazing facility,” he commented.
Aspirus Stanley Hospital supports local businesses, and the hospital cafeteria provides Meals on Wheels for the Stanley and Cadott area for individuals who are aged 60 and over, are unable to prepare sufficient meals independently, and are temporarily or permanently home bound.
Aspirus Stanley Hospital continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of its patients and the community. The hospital remains committed to its mission of providing exceptional care and serving as a cornerstone of health in Stanley and beyond. Following Aspirus’s acquisition of the Stanley hospital in 2021, Broughton highlighted the ongoing success of the Aspirus Stanley facility. “Not only have we grown, we have completely impressed with services and growth. We’re very, very excited.”
In light of recent hospital and clinic closures, Stanley Area Chamber President Ron Haas expressed his gratitude that the hospital is available to the Stanley community. “We’re really happy the hospital is here. Thank you for everything you guys do. Stanley is fortunate.”
The next Coffee and Commerce event will be held September 5 at Hansen’s IGA at 8 a.m.
