Headed to Thorp Thursday, the Oriole Cross Country team came away in a good place. Orioles Head Coach Nick Mahr shared thoughts after the results.
“It was a nice meet for us,” Mahr said. “It was a beautiful day on a great course and almost all the kids ran really well. It’s a little bitter sweet that it was the last meet for the middle school runners. The middle school boys won the meet led by John Smit winning the race by about a minute. Our high school girls finished second to Bloomer, who are one of the best teams in the state, and in the boys race Elihu turned in an awesome time of 18:06.”
The Orioles race Saturday at Levis-Trow Mounds Recreational Area near Neillsville. Competition starts at 10:00 a.m.
