Orioles defeat Mounders 49-6 in Friday home gamed

The Stanley-Boyd Orioles have extended their record.
Facing off with Elk Mound Friday at home, the Orioles came away with a 49-6 victory, holding off Elk Mound from scoring until the fourth quarter. With Friday’s victory the Orioles have now won all but one of their regular season games and stand near the top of the Cloverbelt. Orioles Football Head Coach Jeff Koenig shared thoughts on how things had gone Friday.
“Our team played fast against Elk Mound,” he said. “I thought we saw a lot of improvement from the previous week with pad level and intensity. Hopefully, that can continue to improve.”
Scoring touchdowns for the Orioles along the way to Friday’s victory Friday were Madden Mahr, Carson Hodowanic, Rudy Kletsch, Cole Brenner, with Brenner scoring two and Kletsch making three.
The Orioles logged a total of 147 rushing yards against Elk Mound, the majority by Kletsch with 60 followed by Logan Dorn with 27 and a tie between Jackson Gindt and Jake LaGrander for 19. Mahr rushed for 17 yards.
On defense, notable statistics saw Brenner recorded two interceptions and Mahr recorded one, while tackles were led by Jesse Allard with 3. Team tackles saw Caleb Westrom, Gavin Hatfield, and Storm Tiry tied with seven each.
As for receiving, the Orioles made 299 total yards, led by Mahr with 87 and followed by Kletsch with 83. Brenner and Hodowanic both logged 52 receiving yards against Elk Mound, while Gindt logged 24 and Carsen Woodcock logged one.
The Orioles next play Durand-Arkansaw Friday at Durand High School. Game start is 7:00 p.m.
