Building Connections: D.R. Moon Memorial Library Launches Capital Campaign

Posted

The D.R. Moon Memorial Library is set to embark on an exciting new chapter with the launch of its capital campaign, “Building Connections.” After partnering with the Stanley City Council for bond financing, this initiative marks a significant milestone in the community’s efforts to enhance its cultural and educational resources. The campaign launch will showcase the library’s plans for expansion and renovation, highlighting how the new facility will better serve the diverse needs of residents, all while showcasing the vibrant history of Stanley. From advanced technology to versatile and inclusive community spaces, the enhancements promise to elevate the library’s role as a hub of learning and innovation. Library Director Elizabeth Miniatt explained that the volunteer campaign team has put in extensive time and effort to reach this moment and has brought the library project to many significant stakeholders, partnered with the city in a creative bond financing approach, and submitted dozens of grant applications and proposals. “We’re so excited to bring the campaign forward with the community’s support in this next step. It’s our library and I hope that each person can feel that sense of ownership and pride in this once-in-a-lifetime endeavor to create a space that will provide for the community’s needs for the next 120+ years,” Miniatt states.
Scheduled for July 30, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the D.R. Moon Memorial Library, the campaign launch promises an evening filled with food, fun, and music for the entire family. With thanks to support from the Stanley Lions Club, Hansen’s IGA, and Forward Bank, the event aims to rally community support and celebrate the vision of a new and improved library facility that connects the past to the future. Attendees can look forward to a lively atmosphere offering delicious food, entertainment, and activities for children and adults alike. It’s an opportunity not only to learn about the project but also to mingle with neighbors and share in the excitement of shaping the future of Stanley’s cultural landscape while keeping the past alive.
