Now nearing season end, the Stanley-Boyd girls golf varsity competed in the conference championship at Lake Hallie Golf Course Thursday, Sept. 26. With Stanley-Boyd finishing third overall with a score of 472, Orioles Head Girls Golf Coach Devon Wenndt shared the following.
“First of all, a great many congratulations to Coach Ryan Krall and his outstanding Colfax/Elk Mound squad for taking home another conference title this year. They had quite the showing, and they are clearly the team to beat at the Turtleback Regional this Thursday, Oct. 3,” he said.
As individual scores the girls varsity golfers played well. Junior Allie Goodman scored 120, freshman Vivian Morrow scored 108, McKaila Simon scored 120, junior Emily Kletsch score 124, and sophomore Emily Brenner scored 131.
Of the Oriole performance at Lake Hallie, Wenndt had the following to say.
“Thursday certainly was the most complete round of golf that we have played as a team this season,” he said. “Anytime you have four players shooting better than their season scoring average, there’s plenty to be happy about. There’s a few of our girls playing their best golf of the season at the moment, and it couldn’t happen at a finer time. Lake Hallie should serve as a wonderful stepping stone towards Turtleback this Thursday. If we play there like we did at Lake Hallie, I like our chances to advance in the WIAA Tournament Series to the Sectional at Luck Golf Course next week.”
The WIAA Tournament Series kicks off Monday, Oct. 7 at 9:00 a.m.
