SB wrestlers named to Academic All State

Wrestling on the mat is over for the present, but there’s still Academic All State. Requiring a minimum 3.5 GPA (non-weighted) just for nomination, as well as being in good standing at their school. Weighted grades are adjusted to a 4.0 scale to qualify.
With all the votes tallied, five Stanley-Boyd wrestlers have been named to the list.
Taking first team All State is Willy Graham, with Breckin Burzynski on the Second Team. Earning Honorable Mention for 2024 Academic All State are Stefan Lin, Aaron Sturm, and Brody Westrom. Longtime wrestling program assistant and incoming head coach Jake Fitzsimmons shared the following on the honor.
“I am extremely proud of all 5 of these young men,” he said. “We emphasize at practice for all wrestlers to do their best in the classroom as they are students first and athletes second. Breckin and Willy both ended their seasons wrestling at the state tournament and to also be one of the best in the state academically is quite an accomplishment. This is Breckin’s third time making the WWCA Academic All State team.”
Fitzsimmons also shared praise for those making Honorable Mention.
“Aaron persevered through some challenges this year to become a sectional qualifier,” he said.
Stefan and Brody both work hard and are both very coachable in practice. I was excited for all three of them to be recognized for their perseverance, hard work, and efforts in the classroom as well.”
