Summer Legion Baseball is Back!

America’s favorite pastime will be back this summer! Starting June 6th, Stanley-Boyd is hosting a Summer Legion Baseball team for high school students in 9th to 12th grades. Jake Tiry, transportation supervisor for Stanley-Boyd, will be coaching the team with games scheduled to begin June 6th and run through July 25th. The Legion Team will be co-sponsored by the Stanley Legion Post 112 and the Boyd Legion Post 326, which are also supplying uniforms and selling concessions at the home games to be held at Oriole Park.
Ben Niedzwiecki, finance officer for Stanley Legion Post 112, shared that Post 112 was excited when first approached that Legion Baseball would be started back up. He explained that Legion members will be presenting the flags at the home game on June 21st. “We’re really happy to do it. Anything that supports the community we are all for it,” he commented. Boyd Legion Commander Gerry Gully agreed mentioning that it’s been “quite a few years” since Legion Baseball was active. He said that the Boyd Legion plans to sponsor two teams this year and will also be sponsoring a Legion team in Cadott. “We’re definitely excited about it,” Gully said. “We’re going to help both teams out. Kinda like to keep things going.” He added that it’s fun for the kids. “That’s why we do it.”
Tiry is looking forward to the start of the season and adds, “Please come out and enjoy some baseball, we’d love to see you there.” For more information on the Legion Baseball Team contact Jake Tiry at jtiry@s-bschools.org.
